Here are the sports on the program for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. A women's cricket tournament has been added and beach volleyball returns after a successful debut in 2018. Shooting and archery were initially controversially left off the program, though later it was announced that a Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships was be held in Chandigarh, India (though this was subsequently canceled due to the pandemic). At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, there will be more women's and Para medal events than any previous edition of the games, and overall there will be more female medal events than for men. There are eight para-sports, including the first-ever 3x3 wheelchair basketball tournament.
