The NFL Quarterback Challenge was a long-running competition held up until 2007. This video of the 1998 event featured Brett Favre winning the long-distance throw with 74-yards.
It wasn’t the best ever in the competition, the longest was 80 yards (73 meters) by Vinnie Testaverde achieved in 1988. Equal second were Kordell Stewart and Drew Bledsoe with 73 yards, followed by Steve McNair with 72 yards.
Check out our page which in which we have collated many of the results, featuring many great names in NFL history. Peyton Manning was second in 2002 with 68 yards, and the competition was won by Tom Brady in 2003 with 62 yards.
Tom Brady, one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks ever, has done some great things in his career, but his performances at the 2000 pre-draft combine is not one of them. His poor effort affected his chances. He was picked 199 overall in the draft, and he was the 7th quarterback to be picked. The NFL won’t let me show the video of his performance, but here is someone else trying to match his scores.
His results at the combine:
40 Yard Dash: 5.28s
20 Yard Dash: 2.94s
10 Yard Dash: 1.70s
Bench Press: –
Vertical Leap: 24.5 inches
Broad Jump: 99 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.38s
Three Cone Drill: 7.20s
60 Yd Shuttle: –
Wonderlic: 33

One of the most famous last minute plays in the history of College Football is this dramatic finish to the 1982 California vs Stanford football game. It is known as ‘The Play’, as there has never been anything like it and maybe never will. It finishes with an amazing touchdown after five lateral passes. California’s Kevin Moen not only had to negotiate his way past the remnants of Stanford’s defense to get into the end zone, but also crashed through members of Stanford’s marching band who had entered the field believing the Cardinals had already won the match. The final score was California 25 Stanford 20. The final minute of the game is shown here.
The 3 Cone Agility Fitness Test is part of the fitness testing battery for the NFL Combine. This clip has a very clear voice-over description of how to perform the 3-Cone Agilty Drill test during an athletic combine.
The 20 yard shuttle test is performed by the NFL during combine testing is also called the Pro Agility Drill. This is a video clip of how to perform the 20-Yard Shuttle during an athletic combine.
This video example of the Vertec®-type apparatus for performing the vertical jump fitness test of leg power, is of Gustavo Tella, achieving the best vertical jump at the NFL Europe tryout in 2006. Unfortunately, the video was taken on its side, so you have to go side-on to watch this one.
