- The mascots for the Paris 2024 Olympics were Olympic Phryge and Paralympic Phryge. They are based on the Phrygian cap, a symbol freedom and of the French Republic. The Paralympic Phryge has a prosthesis and a racing blade.
- Paris is the second city to host the Summer Olympics three times (the other is London).
- Paris last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924, therefore 2024 will mark 100 years since.
- Paris 2024 became the sixth Olympic Games hosted by France (three each in summer & winter). The 2030 Winter Olympics will also be hosted in France.
- In a break from tradition, the River Seine served as the venue of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, with athletes traveling in boats along a six-kilometer route during the spectacle.
