Here are the 28 sports included on the program for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The sports golf and 7s rugby union were new additions to the program. In boxing, head guards were scrapped for the men and electronic scoring replaced. In a controversial decision, it was also decided that for the first time professional boxers will be allowed to compete at the Olympic Games. There was also a demonstration of eSports and footvolley.
