Here are all the host cities and year of the World Swimming Championships since the first in 1973. In 1998, FINA decided to move the Championships from a four cycle to a two year cycle, though with the upheaval of the world's sporting calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will be held annually between 2022-2025.
Three cities have hosted the championships twice: Barcelona (2003 & 2013), Rome (1994 & 2009) and Perth (1991 & 1998). In 2022, Budapest will host the event for the second time, and in 2023 Fukuoka will do the same.
