A wheelbarrow race is a competitive children's game conducted in pairs, in which one person plays the role of the controller, and the other the role of the wheelbarrow. The controller holds on to the other player's ankles, while the participant taking the role of the wheelbarrow walks on their hands.
Races are held over various distances, or may be in the form of a relay. The first person or team to cross the finish line is the winner.
There are no formal or professional competitions for wheelbarrow races. Competitions are commonly conducted during festivals, picnics and school sports days.
