Just like Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is also part of the West Indies. Cricket and football are very popular sports in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Vincentians organize cricket and football games on any flat, open ground, including the beach. Netball is the most popular sport played by women on the islands.
One of the well-known Vincentian Athletes is Ezra Hendrickson. He played professionally in the United States' Major League Soccer with New York MetroStars, Galaxy, Dallas, and Chivas USA, and was also a member of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national team. Since 2009 he is an assistant coach with Seattle Sounders FC. Hendrickson also spent time as the captain of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national team, and was one of the team's best players since earning his first cap in 1995 against Barbados. He made 24 appearances for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the 1998, 2002, and 2006 World Cup qualifiers and 123 overall, scoring twice during 1996 Caribbean Cup.
The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national netball team represents Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in international netball. As of July 2011, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are not ranked in the IFNA World Rankings, due to them not playing the required eight matches since July 2009.At the 2003 World Netball Championships in Jamaica, they finished 13th. At their most recent international competition, they ranked 11th at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
