Senegal at the Winter Olympic Games
Senegal finally made its debut at the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia in 1984 and returned to the Winter Olympics in 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2010.
The West African nation sent one athlete each in editions of the Winter Games it joined except in 1992 when it sent two athletes.
The nation already secured its first medal at the Summer Olympics thanks to the silver medal finish of Amadou Dia Ba in the 400-meter hurdles event in track and field at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympic Games in South Korea, but has not won any medal at the Winter Games.
Trivia
- The first black African skier to compete in the Winter Olympics was Senegal's Lamine Guèye, who made his debut at Sarajevo 1984. Guèye, who had founded the Senegalese Ski Federation in 1979, went on to compete for Senegal in Albertville 1992 and Lillehammer 1994.
