Golfing Records - Vardon Trophy Winners

Here is a list of the scoring average leaders on the PGA tour for each year. The leader each year is awarded The Vardon Trophy, presented by the PGA of America. The award was first given in 1937, initially on the basis of a points system, before it changed to the average system in 1947. Since 1988, the trophy has been given to the golfer with the lowest adjusted scoring average over a minimum of 60 rounds.

The trohpy is named after Harry Vardon who is considered was the first-ever superstar of golf. He was one of the greatest players and most significant figures in the early history of golf. He won the British Open a record six times.
