The African nation Gambia it made its debut at the Summer Olympic Games in 1984, and have snt athletes to every Games since. Unfortunately, the country is still lingering to win its first-ever medal at the quadrennial sporting event.
In the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games the nation sent four (three men and one women) athletes to compete in three sports (judo, swimming and track and field). This marked the first time that the nation competed in judo and swimming. Sprinter Gina Bass, who happens to be the only female athlete on the Gambian team, served as the flag bearer for Gambia in the opening ceremony. Unluckily, all of the nation’s athletes failed to advance into the second round of their respective events.
