Comoros is a small African country that has been participating in the Olympics since 1996. Their national Olympic committee (Comité Olympique et Sportif des Iles Comores) was established in 1976 but only recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1993.
The very next Summer Games, Comoros made its Olympic debut by sending four athletes to Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Runners Mohamed Bakar, Hadhari Djaffar and Hassan Abdou represented Comoros for the 100, 200 and 400 meters men's track and field while Ahamada Haoulata did so for the women's 400 meters. Unfortunately, none of them were able to advance.
Unfortunately, no Comorian athlete has ever advanced pass the quarterfinals of any event that they participated in, let alone win a medal. Comoros, as with many African countries, has also never participated in a single Winter Olympics.
