Basketball has been played at the Olympic Games since 1936 in Berlin, with a women's basketball tournament added in 1976. The biggest change since then has been the introduction of 3x3 basketball in Tokyo 2020.
3x3 (also called streetball or street basketball) is an informal variation of basketball which is played widely all around the world. The sport made its first appearance on the international stage at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
The 3x3 form of the game is played with two teams of three players, on half a court and with one hoop. The rules are essentially the same rules as full-court basketball. Every successful shot from inside the arc of the court is given a point, from behind the arc is worth two points. The first team to score 21 wins.
