Beijing is the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games. It is the capital city of the People’s Republic of China, with some 3000 years of history. The city lies in the country's north-east. There are appoximately 14.5 million residents with the city limits extending some 80 kilometers. Within in the metropolitan area there is 7.5 million people.
