In this year, Arthur Knight patented the steel shaft golf club.
In tennis, Tony Wilding was considered to be the first heart-throb of Wimbledon. Prior to the First World War, he helped Australasia rule the Davis Cup. However he was killed in action.
In the Rugby union, the first match of the French team in the Five Nations Championship happened.
On July 4, 1910, the “great white hope” named James Jeffries was knocked out by Jack Johnson in round 15. This is the boxing’s first fight of the century.
The door opened for women swimmers as the International Swimming Federation accepted events for women in their competition. Forty-two women from nine different countries participated in that major event.
