Sporting Highlights for 1906

Here are some of the sporting highlights in the world of sport for 1906. A multisport event held in Athens, Greece was promoted as the second Olympic Games, however the poorly organized and attended event has now been downgraded by the IOC to be called the Intercalated Games, and the medals not officially counted in Olympic stats.



In Motor Racing reports, the first Grand Prix was held near Le Mans, which became the start of Formula 1.

In American Football, the rules and regulations were changed by President Theodore Roosevelt. According to the President, the game was too brutal.

In the field of soccer, for the second time, Liverpool won the League championship and became the first club to win in consecutive years.
