Here are the top-paid women athletes from around the world for the 2023 calendar year, according to the figures published by Forbes Magazine. This year the highest paid sports woman was Polish tennis player Iga Świątek.
Tennis players continue to dominate the annual pay ranking for women athletes. Chinese-American skier Eileen Gu who was second is the only non tennis player in the top 10.
Last year's leader (and in 2020 and 2021) Naomi Osaka had reduced earnings following to her lay off due to pregnancy. Serena Williams was not included on this list following her retirement (though she would have still made a lot of money). Williams, who at the time was not retired, was the only female in the top-50 highest-paid athletes for 2023, ranking 49th.
