Winter Pentathlon at the Winter Olympics
A winter pentathlon event, a winter version of the summer Games modern pentathlon, was held only once as a demonstration sport, at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz.
The event comprised these five disciplines, in order:
- 10 km cross-country ski race
- Pistol shooting
- Downhill skiing
- Fencing
- Horse jumping equestrian course
Results
The event was decided on a point-for-place format. Swedish athletes took the first three positions.
- Gustaf Lindh (Sweden)
- Wille Grut (Sweden)
- Bertil Haase (Sweden)
Second placed Captain Willie Grut won the Modern Pentathlon event later that year at the 1948 London Olympics, with one of the most decisive victories seen in the event, winning three of the five disciplines.
