Wales at the World Cup
Wales has participated in every Rugby World Cup since the first in 1987. Wales has also hosted the World Cup in 1999. Their best performance was finishing in third place in 1987 at their first appearance.
Trivia
- The first player to be sent off (red carded) was Welsh lock Huw Richards, while playing against New Zealand in 1987.
- For the 2015 tournament, some matches were played in Cardiff, Wales, although England, and its governing body the Rugby Football Union, was officially the sole host nation.
