Wakeboard at the Olympic Games
Wakeboarding is a variation of waterskiiing — though by using cables instead of motorboats to pull the athletes over the course, the competition experience can be standardized between competitors. See more about the sport of wakeboarding.
Wakeboarding is a young and new sport which appeals to youthful audiences, and may be what the IOC is after, however it will have to wait a while before being considered again for the Olympics.
Wakeboard was one of eight sports that was considered for a single spot in the 2020 Olympics. In May 2013 the IOC decided to drop wakeboard from the shortlist.
