Unicycle trials is a unicyclying sport that involves participants going through obstacles riding a unicycle. Participants must not touch the ground while going through the competition.
Unicycle Trials was inspired by bike and motorcycle trials. Competitions usually last for 2 hours, depending on the obstacles. Obstacles include beams, logs, steep climbs, and rocks. Usually a competitor is allowed two or three minutes to go through each obstacle. A trials unicycle is used for this sport, a standard unicycle can be used, but most standard unicycles were not made for obstacles included in this sport.
Competitors must wear safety gears like helmets, shin and knee protection, and gloves. Each obstacle must be different from each other; each obstacle must have a variety of hopping and rolling techniques. The difficulty of each obstacle must correspond to the abilities of the competitors. The easiest one should be doable after one or two attempts. The observers or judges determine whether a competitor has successfully completed an obstacle.
