Recruits for the Lancashire Police Department are required to undergo a fitness assessment as part of the recruitment process. Below is some information about the fitness test requirements and standards. This information is presented for discussion and may be out of date - for the latest information see current official sources.
Assessment Tests
There have always been annual fitness assessments for Lancashire police officers, though compulsory testing with stricter rules was introduced in 2013 for all police officers, including those in the armed response and dog patrol teams. The tests, including two types of bleep tests, are used to measure the endurance. There are also upper body strength tests (push and pull tests). Officers who fail the test will be put on a strict training regime and have two more chances to pass. From September 2014, officers who fail three tests will face disciplinary action and possible expulsion from the force.
