        - Netball was first included in the Commonwealth Games program in 1998, though it was played as a demonstration sport in 1990 at Auckland.
- The goal scoring area at each end of the playing court is called a circle, but is actually a semi-circle.
- A  similar but distinct game to netball,  played primarily in the Netherlands and Belgium is Korfball.
- Netball was first played in England in 1895 at Madame Ostenburg's   College.
      - Each team in the Australian 'Commonwealth Bank Trophy' competition had named based on a different   species bird.
- Australia dominated netball by winning nine of the first 12 World   Championships (they  won each of the World   Championships between 1971 and 1999)
- Unlike most sports where the field is divided into two halves, the   netball court is divided into thirds.
- Australian Netball Team is called 
          The Diamonds, New Zealand is the Silver Ferns.
- The first netball World Championships were held in   Eastbourne, England in 1963.
- Netball appeared at the Commonwealth Games first in 1998 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
