Here are some trivia about the Asian Games, first held in 1949.
- In 1994 at Hiroshima, Japan, it was the first time that the Games were held outside the capital city of the host country.
- Bangkok Thailand has hosted the event four times, and on each occasion the closing of the games was on same day, December 20, and all were opened by Bhumibol Adulyadej.
- Of all the countries to participate at the games, only Bhutan, Maldives and Timor-Leste (East Timor) are yet to win a single medal (current 2013).
- 2018 was the first time the Asian Games were co-hosted in two cities - the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, and Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra province.
- Indonesian Aliqqa Novvery was only 9-year-old when she competed in skateboarding at the 2018 Asian Games, becoming the youngest competitor ever. At the same games, there was an 81-year-old bridge player Lee Hung Fong.
