Lonely Planet made this top-10 list in 2015 about where and how to watch sport like a local. Here are their 10 sporting events to see, where you can watch sport like a local. They have listed 10 sports, and the ultimate place to watch that sport. Have you been to any of these events? With these sports as inspiration, we created our own list of 7 Wonders of the Sporting World (Events).
- Football at La Bombonera, Buenos Aires
- Sumo wrestling at RyĆgoku Kokugikan, Tokyo.
- Cricket at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Probably any cricket match on the subcontinent would be an awesome experience. I have also always wanted to see a Test series in the West Indies, which would also have great atmosphere.
- AFL at the MCG, Melbourne. I can't argue with this one. The MCG is the home of Australian Football (it is also the home of cricket in Australia). The ultimate would be to see a Grand Final match here.
- Ice hockey at Rogers Arena, Vancouver
- Baseball at Fenway Park, Boston. Watching the Yankee's playat Yankee Stadium is on a lot of sporting bucket lists too.
- Basketball at Madison Square Garden, New York
- Hurling at Croke Park, Dublin
- NFL at Sun Life Stadium, Miami.
- Rugby Union at Newlands, Cape Town.
