In Richmond, in north-west Queensland Australia, the annual World Moonrock Throwing Competition is held as part of the Richmond Fossil Festival. Moonrocks are unique stones found in the region that can vary in size from a golf ball to weighing many tonnes. They are not from the moon, nor are they fossils, but they are often found to contain fossils.

There are separate competitions for men, women and children, in which they throw rocks of various weights.
There are also other exciting things to do at the festival.
