Tajikistan at the Winter Olympics
Tajikistan first joined the Winter Olympic Games in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah in the United States. Prior to 1992, Tajik athletes competed as part of the Soviet Union at the Olympics.
The nation was represented by one athlete, alpine skier Andrei Drygin, from 2002 up to 2010. Drygin could have competed at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, but was replaced by another alpine skier Alisher Qudratov.
The mountainous landlocked nation in Central Asia has already won four medals (including the gold medal that won by Dilshod Nazarov in the men’s hammer throw event in athletics in 2016 Rio Games) at the Summer Games but unfortunately the nation is seeking to win its first medal at the Winter Games.
