Hassan Sardar: Field Hockey

Hassan Sardar (born October 22, 1959 in Karachi, Pakistan) is a former center forward and captain of the Pakistan team. Later, he managed the Pakistani Hockey Team and is currently the Chief Selector of the Pakistan Hockey Team. Hassan Sardar was considered to be the most dexterous player in the world during the 1982 World Cup.



Greatest Sporting Achievements

Sardar won the gold medal with the Men’s National Hockey Team during the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles and won the gold medal during the 1982 Mumbai World Cup, became the man of the tournament, scoring 11 World Cup goals. Hassan Sardar was named player of the year of the Bombay World Cup event.

Why Was He So Good?

He was graceful and deadly on the field, becoming Pakistan’s best ever center forward along with Hanif Khan, Kalimuliah, Shanaz Sheikh and Samiullah. Pakistan was led by this talented and skillful player.
