Romania competed at the Winter Olympic Games for the first time in St. Moritz, Switzerland in 1928 and has participated at Winter Games from then on except for the 1960 Squaw Valley Games.
Even though the Central European nation is a powerhouse at the Summer Olympic Games specifically in the sport of gymnastics, the nation has just won a single medal at the Winter Games, thanks to the bronze medal earned by the tandem of Ion Panturu and Nicolae Neagoe in the two-man event in bobsleigh at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympic Games.
Like many other nations worldwide, Romania is still waiting to win its first-ever gold medal at the Winter Games.
