The Reversing Diet is referred to as the "diet after the diet", and involves increasing your energy intake in a gradual way after you stop following a reduced energy diet. The theory is to restore the body to pre-diet levels of circulating hormones by gradually increasing your energy intake, and not to store extra body fat. The reverse diet is popular among bodybuilders trying to return to "normal" eating patterns without gaining too much weight.
Fad or Credible?
Although there are numerous anecdotal reports of success using reverse dieting, there are no studies specifically testing this diet for weight management. With a lack of scientific evidence we call this one a fad.
