Here are just a few records from the Olympic Games.
- The youngest ever Olympian is Greek gymnast Dimitrios Loundras, who competed in the 1896 Athens Olympics. He was 10 years old (not counting the young boys who competed as coxswain in the rowing events in 1896)
- The Oldest ever Olympian is Swedish shooter Oscar Swahn, who won his sixth Olympic medal at the 1920 Antwerp Games at the age of 72 years and 280 days old. (see more of the oldest and youngest)
- In 2012, US swimmer Michael Phelps took his medal tally to a total of 22, including 18 gold medals, making him the most successful Olympic Games in terms of medals won. In 2016 he has added to the total.
