The new sport of Peraball was created by Luca Tedesco from the USA in 2018. The sport is similar to baseball, cricket, and basketball. It is played on an enclosed space such as a sports hall or gymnasium. Frontal and shoulder-to-shoulder body contact is permitted. The rules of baseball are the sport's biggest inspiration.

Equipment Required

• Baseball bat 
• Tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape 
• Batting helmet 
• Wicket-keeping or soccer goalie glove 
• Wicket-keeping or hockey shin pads

The Field

• The strike zone is 20 inches high and 15 inches wide and 15 inches above the ground. 
• The bases are placed 30-60 feet apart. 
• The bases are 3 feet by 3 feet. The batting crease is an arc 5 feet from the point where the first and third baselines meet. The exclusion zone is marked 10 feet from this point. 
• The bowling crease is marked ¾ the distance between the bases (i.e. 22.5 feet if the bases are 30 feet apart, 30 feet if the bases are 40 feet apart, 37.5 feet for 50 feet, and 45 feet for 60 feet). This line is 3 feet long. Two lines run perpendicular 6 feet behind this line and all the way to the exclusion zone. This is known as the lane and no fielder may enter this area until the ball is hit. 

Sport Description

• Peraball is played between two teams of 6 to 9 players.
• The aim of the game is to score more points than the opposing team. 
• Points are scored each time a base is reached. If a player travels around all three bases, they will score 5 points. 
• The teams bat and field for 7 innings. If the scores are tied, then extra innings will be played. Three outs ends the inning. 
• A batsman will be out after 3 strikes, 4 fouls, the ball is caught, or the ball is thrown directly to the strike zone. 
• The runners can be put out if the base they are going to is tagged or they are tagged themselves. 
• The fielding positions consist of: 
  -A bowler (pitcher) 
  -Blocker (weā ll get to him later) 
  -1st base 
  -2nd base 
  -3rd base 
  -Up to three outfielders 
• Only five fielders may position themselves in the infield. 
• The bat is a regulation baseball bat and the ball is a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape. 
• There are no home runs. A ball hit anywhere in fair territory is constantly in play. 
• A batsman gets 3 balls to walk to first base. 
• The bases are run clockwise, reverse to baseball. 
• Physical contact is permitted so long as it is frontal or shoulder-to-shoulder. 
• The blocker can wear a glove similar to a wicket-keeping glove and wicket keeping pads. Their job is more to block the ball than to block the runners. 
• The bowler throws the ball underhanded.
