2022 Beijing, China
The Beijing 2022 athlete villages are spread over three zones: Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou. The main Winter Olympic village is located in downtown Beijing, made up of 20 residential buildings. The residential area will provide 2,338 beds during the Games and 1,040 beds during the Paralympics.
As per the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, there will be restrictions on the movements of athletes due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Compared to the previous Winter Olympics in PyeongChang there will be less mixing of the athletes and they will not be allowed to stay around in the village after they have completed their events. This will mean the food hall will not be as busy as previous Olympoic Games.
The official retail food services sponsor for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics is Yum China. Yum China is one of the largest fast-food restaurant companies in China, with over 7,600 restaurants. It is no surprise that Yum China will open KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in the Beijing, Zhangjiakou, and Yanqing Winter Olympic Villages.
The final details of the food provision in Beijing for the Winter Olympics has not been released, though it is expected that, like in Beijing 2008, there will be plenty of Chinese food available, but also a large range of dishes from many other countries.
