Many injuries that we see in our clinic are related to sustained postures and repetitive duties at work. There are several things that you can do to reduce the risk and prevent the severity of injury. Physiotherapists are experts at analyzing movement and posture so that we can help you determine what exercises you can do and changes that you can make to your work station and practises.
Some important tips:
- Sit in a supportive chair with your bottom back as far as possible in the seat and your thighs fully supported by the seat.
- Your monitor should be directly in front of you.
- Looking straight at you monitor your eyes should be level with the toolbar.
- Your monitor should be out in front of you at finger tips reach.
- Your elbows and knees should be at 90 degrees bend.
- Your feet should be supported on the ground or foot stool.
- You should take a posture break and exercises for several minutes every half hour/ hour.
If you are experiencing any headaches, shoulder, arm or neck pain — make an appointment to see a physiotherapist. Early intervention is one of the best forms of treatment.
