Australia has won over 160 gold medals at the Olympic Games, with the most recent Games in Paris 2024 possibly our most successful ever (see the complete Australian Medal Tally). Our best placing was 3rd in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, the worst was 32nd in Montreal 1976. Australia finished fourth in Paris 2024, tying its best performance away from home (they were also 4th in Athens 2004). Australia is currently 8th on the all time medal tally (includes Paris 2024 results).
