Lumberjack is a sport in which the participants put their logging skills to test. Lumberjack events have several types of competitions for chopping, cutting, logging and several other disciplines.

The most popular lumberjack event is the Lumberjack World Championship, an international annual event held in Hayward, Wisconsin, which sees participants from countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The event features four different competitions for women, nine different competitions for men, and three team competitions.

Some of the competitions are:

• Single buck - Contestants use a one man bucking saw to cut a 20 inch diameter log (16 inch for women) in fastest time possible
• Hot saw - A single cylinder power saw is used to make three cuts on a 20 inch diameter log.
• Block chop - A single-bit axe is used to chop a 12 inch diameter (11 inch for women) log.
• Log rolling — Two contestants, stand on a floating log on opposite ends, and try to make the other fall into the water.
• Speed Pole Climbing — Contestants try to climb a 60 ft and 90 ft poles in fastest times possible.

The other major competitions for the sport are: World Logging Championship and the Stihl Timbersports Series.
