Israel at the Winter Olympics
Israel started competing at the Winter Olympic Games in Oslo, Norway in 1952 and has sent athletes to all event since then except in 1980.
Including 2014, the nation had already sent 22 athletes at the Winter Games that saw action in alpine skiing, figure skating and short-track speed skating.
In the 2014 edition of the Winter Olympic Games, Vladislav Bykanov became the nation’s first male athlete to qualify in the short track speed skating.
The tiny nation already netted several medals (including one gold) in events such as sailing, judo and canoeing at the Summer Olympic Games but it is yet to capture its first-ever medal at the Winter Games.
