Sports involving dogs encompass a wide range of activities where our four-legged friends showcase their agility, obedience, and athleticism. From traditional events like dog agility, disc dog and obedience trials to newer pursuits such as dock diving and flyball, these sports demonstrate the special bond between humans and their canine companions.

Is it a sport?
The classification as a sport depends on one's definition of the term, which may be different from mine. Many of these activities with dogs may not be considered "real" sports, as they do not always require the skill and physical exertion of the dog handler (which is one of my criteria for a sport).
Critics contend that sports should involve human athletes and organized leagues, which excludes many of these dog activities from the traditional definition. However, many dog sports involve competition, physical exertion, and skill, meeting the criteria of traditional sports. Advocates emphasize the athleticism, training, and dedication required by both dogs and handlers to excel in activities such as agility, obedience, and flyball. Additionally, dog sports foster camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship among participants, further blurring the line between traditional and non-traditional sports.
Ultimately, whether dog sports are considered a real sport is a matter of perspective, with enthusiasts and skeptics holding differing opinions. There are many different dog sports, and classifying just some as sports is the compromise needed.
