Here is the final for the AFL player sprint race held at half time of the 2015 AFL Grand Final. Included in the field were two cab drivers (the race was sponsored by the company 13 Cabs). Also for sponsorship reasons, all the runners wore bright yellow tights. The winner was Majak Daw, the first winner of the race from the North Melbourne football club. Here is the final for the AFL player sprint race held at half time of the 2016 AFL Grand Final. The winner was James Shirley, a 28-year-old suburban footballer from the Murrumbeena Football Netball Club, who won through qualifying races to represent local footballers. Here the final for the AFL player sprint race, held annually on Grand Final Day. The event was held before the main game, previously it was held during half-time. The winner was Patrick Dangerfield of Adelaide (repeating his win from 2011), with Sydney’s Harry Cunningham second and Hawthorn’s Angus Litherland third.

Here’s the player sprint race held during half-time at the 2009 AFL Grand Final. After 3 years as a handicap event, the sprint reverted to a scratch race where all runners cover 100m. This was the format since the first race in 1979. The winner was Rhys Stanley of St Kilda, followed by Trent McKenzie (Gold Coast) and Wade Thompson (Port Adelaide). See more about the GF Sprint.
