Masters or Seniors events are an held to bring together athletes within given age brackets to compete in various sports. The number of sports or events is usually between 50 and 60 depending with the capacity of the host country. The athletes within the age brackets are again grouped into groupings at age intervals usually at an interval of 5 years.
Unlike the other athletic events, the only qualification for one to participate in masters games event is the age. As long as the person meets the age bracket specified, there are no other qualifications. The event is open for all
For you to participate in the masters games event, you don’t have to be necessarily registered or affiliated to any sports club. Individuals are allowed to participate on their own, although sometimes some clubs will want you to participate as their member.
The maters games event is not very different from the other athletic events. This event hosts all the events which the normal athletic event hosts. These runs from field events to off the field eventsalso called track events. Some of the field events include: short runs of 100 meters, marathon running, discus throw, javelin throw, race walks, steeplechases, pole vault etc just to mention a few.
These events are overseen by referees who are officials of the governing bodies. These referees are mandated with responsibility of ensuring a fair game play and giving fair and un-biased judgments. Each of these events is time bound, and the referee keeps time track and ends the games when the time runs out. Winners from each event are then rewarded accordingly.
