In 2022, the first Caribbean Games was held in Guadeloupe between June 29 to July 3, 2022.
There were 30 countries participating, mostly comprising nations and territories of the carribean, though present was the Central American country Belize and the South American Caribbean countries Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.
Only seven sports were on the program for the first event: Athletics, Basketball 3x3, Cycling, Futsal, Judo, Swimming, Netball. In 2025, the sporting program has been expanded to 25 sports.
The longer running and larger event, the Central American and Caribbean Games, was initially known as the Carribean Games.
