The Central Asian Games

The first event of the Central Asian Games was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1995. The event is one of the five game events organized by the Olympic Council of Asia held in every two year. This event is a multi-sport games event for the athletes from the region of Central Asia to show their development and hold in traditional Olympic sports. It also includes sports similar to the games found in other zonal events in the Asian region and some of the Western sports like football, volleyball, etc.



Participating athletes come from the five central Asian countries - Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The second event of the Central Asian Games was held in 1997, at Almaty of Kazakhstan; the third Central Asian Games 1999 was held in Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan. The fourth event was scheduled to be in 2001 at Ashgabat of Turkmenistan, but it was canceled. Hence, in 2003, the fourth event of the Central Asian Games was homed in Dushanbe by Tajikistan. And the last event, the fifth one, the Central Asian Games were held in 2005 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Supervising and promoting the fundamental principles of Olympic for respective nations are handed over to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) at the national levels. The NOCs work under the sports framework of the Olympic Council of Asia. National Olympic Committees are responsible for the improvement of the athletes of the respective country and supporting the development of the infrastructure for the sports and related programs for increased performance in sport of the country.
