Commonly known as Guinea-Conarky (to not be confused with Guinea-Bissau), Guinea-Conarky refers to its largest city and the country's capital. Conarky is a port city located on the Atlantic Ocean and is the administrative, cultural, financial and economic center of the country.
Despite its social and financial situation, the peopple of Guinea-Conarky love football. Their national football team is called Syli Nationale which literally means National Elephant. Internationally, they have not faired too well and host never qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals. Their best performance in an international tournament was at the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations where they finished in second place.
Regardless of their relatively poor international performance, football enjoys a somewhat of a religious status. Kids will often take a net out and block the whole street, stopping the traffic to play. There are a few major football stadiums in the country like the Strade 28 and the Nongo Stadium.
