The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is synonymous with the AFL Grand Final, but you will be surprised to know that there are many instances where the final has been played elsewhere, for various reasons. For example, during WWII, the MCG was being used to house soldiers so was not available for football matches. In 2020 many sporting events around the world were thrown into upheaval, and the AFL was no different. The 2020 AFL Grand Final was played at the Gabba in Brisbane, for the first time outside of Victoria and in another first it was played at night. The 2021 Grand Final was played in Perth. Should the AFL Grand Final venue be rotated?
