The new sport of Fortball was created by John Yi from Pleasanton, CA in March 2014. This sport combines fort building with dodge ball. There are 2 teams of 6. This game is fun, and promotes speed, strength, smarts and more.Overall, this sport is an excellent sport to play, and it is very fun.
Description
The game is played on a small court, square in shape. The court is 50 feet by 50 feet. The court is split diagonally instead of horizontally or vertically. There are 3 piles of fort building materials. 1 is in the center, and that is the start pile. This is the biggest pile of materials, and is used at the opening rush. The other piles at at the corners, and are used one for each team, as backup materials. The forts can be knocked down, but the team can repair and/or upgrade the forts at any time during the game. To add materials to the fort, the teams must run out of the safety of their fort to the spare materials pile. There are 3 soft dodge balls. The opening rush is the beginning rush, where teams fight for the fort materials. Before the game, there is a rock paper scissors match to decide who has 2 balls and who has 1. Players can take apart or use stray materials as individual shields, however, they must be small. Each player has 3 lives. Each catch of the ball adds a life, or brings a "dead" player back into play with 1 life. The winning team is the team with the last player(s).
