Finland at the Winter Olympic Games
Finland made its debut at the Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix, France in 1924 and has participated at all Winter Olympics since then. Finland has strongly stamped its mark at the Winter Games and most of its medals came from nordic skiing events.
Finland’s National Olympic Committee is the Finnish Olympic Committee, and was started in 1907, when Finland was still autonomous part and referred to as the Grand Duchy of Finland of the Russian Empire (up to 1917).
The nation is strong in cross-country skiing, ski jumping speed skating and Nordic combined.

- Clas Thunberg won 7 medals (5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) in figure skating
- Matti Nykänen won 5 medals (5 gold and 1 silver) in ski jumping.
Trivia
- At Albertville in 1992, Toni Nieminen of Finland won the large hill ski jump and the team event to become the youngest Winter Olympic champion at 16.
- At Salt Lake City in 2002, the Finn Samppa Lajunen ended with three out of three in the Nordic Combined events.
- Finnish ski jumper Janne Ahonen competed in his seventh Olympic Games in 2018 aged 40 years old.
