Q. I bowl on a league on Wednesday nights, and it says my speed is 15.5 Average Ball Speed, is that the same as Speed of Release or is that how fast my ball is going when it hits the pins? if not, please tell me what my Speed of Release would be if my average ball speed is 15.5.
A. Average ball speed is probably determined by a sensor at either end of the lane, and measuring time to travel the full distance from release to pins. You cannot determine speed of release from that as it will depend several other factors including the lane conditions.
