Djibouti is an African country located in the famous Horn of Africa and as with a lot of African states, football is king in Djibouti. It is their most popular sport and have been a member of FIFA since 1994 but only played internationally in 1994 were they played in the qualifying rounds of the African Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup in 2000.
Their national football team took on and beat the Somalian national team (1-0) in 2007 to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup which is their very first World Cup-related victory. Another sport that Djiboutians loves getting into is athletics. Djama Robleh is their biggest name in marathon. He took the silver in the African Championships (1982) the more recent sports history of Djibouti is showing promise for other athletes like Ahmed Salah.
Djibouti is not able to participate in a lot of international events mainly to shortages in funding. Djibouti first participated in the Summer Olympic Games in 1984 Los Angeles and have sent athletes in all Summer Games ever since except for the Athens Games but has is yet to take home a single medal. As with a lot of African countries, Djibouti have never participated in the Winter Olympics.
