Teun Floris de Nooijer (born 22 March 1976) is a field hockey player from the Netherlands. He is known for winning two Olympics with the Dutch national squad in 1996 and 2000. He made his debut in 1994 in a match against New Zealand. He represented the Dutch for more than three hundred international matches as a midfielder.
Greatest Sporting Achievements
In 2007, Teun de Nooijer earned his 350th cap for the Netherlands national field hockey team when his team defeated Belgium (7-3) in Boxtel, Noord-Brabant.
Aside from winning two gold Olympics, he and his teammates also won two silver Olympics during the 2004 Athens and 2012 London. He also played for the World Cup winning one gold and two bronze. For the European Championship, de Nooijer and his teammates won gold for the 2007 Manchester, silver for the 1999 Padova, 2005 Leipzig and 2011 Gladbach and bronze for the 2009 Amstelveen.
In 2003, 2005 and 2006, he was named World Hockey Player of the Year by the International Hockey Federation, creating history when he won the award a record of three times. De Nooijer was part of the team that won six gold in the Champions Trophy between 1996 and 2006. He claimed his 400th cap for the Netherlands on 15 August 2009 against India, with 5-3 on De Nooijer’s team.
