Cricket is a popular sport in many regions around the world, though it is predominantly played in Commonwealth countries. Cricket has been on the Olympic program just once before, in 1900. 128 years later, it will be making its second appearance at the 2028 LA Olympics. Cricket fans around the world are rejoicing the return of cricket to the Olympics.
1900 Olympic Cricket
There is evidence that cricket was played as a demonstration sport in 1896, then it was officially on the program in 1900 with a single twelve-a-side game. The team from England beat a French team (which ironically was made up mostly of Englishmen).
2028 Olympic Cricket
Cricket will make its first class debut at Los Angeles 2028. The cricket tournament will be played in the T20 format. T20 cricket is the shortest version of the game played internationally, involving each team batting for twenty overs only.
2032 Olympic Cricket
With the 2032 Olympic being held in Brisbane, Australia, where cricket is a popular sport, there is a high probability that cricket will continue to be on the Olympic program.
