Catherine Anne Cox (born 24 May 1976 in Whangarei, New Zealand) is an Australian netball player. She made her international debut in 1997 at age 21 against South Africa and played regularly for the Australian national team. Cox is one of the only four players with more than 100 test matches. Born in New Zealand, she moved to Australia with her family when she was only six. She started playing netball at the age of 11 at the Hills District Netball Association in New South Wales and by 1992, she represented New South Wales at under 17 level. Catherine Cox represented Australia at under 21 level in 1994.
Greatest Sporting Achievements
Catherine Cox became NSW Swifts Player of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2011. She became Australian Team Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005; Australian Players Player of the Year in 2001; New Ideas Australia’s Favorite Diamond in 2011 and 2012; and Australian Goal Shooter of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
She has recorded over 250 national league appearances which included four national league premiership with the Sydney/NSW Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy in 2004, 2006 and 2007 and ANZ Championship in 2008 in 20 domestic seasons. Cox was part of the winning team of the 2007 and 2011 Netball World Championships and the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Why Is She So Good?
Catherine Cox is a marvelous champion. She is always passionate about representing Australia and not once did she took that principle for granted. The longevity of her career alone is a wonderful achievement but to be able to frequently support game after game and still be one of the best shooters in the world is an amazing accomplishment.

- Cox was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder.
- Her exercise routine consisted of a two-sprint and weights program that happens two to three times per week. She also had a two-hour court session and played a game at least once a week.
- She will retire as Australian netball’s longest serving player for both internationally and domestically.
